Maria Martinez - About Me

Meet Maria Martinez

My journey as an immigrant from El Salvador, leaving my home during the civil war, and rebuilding life in a new country, shaped my deep understanding of resilience, loss, and healing.

Coming to the United States as a child taught me what it feels like to adapt, meet challenges, belong, and carry responsibility early in my life. Learning a new language, navigating a new culture, and often speaking for my family created a lot of social anxiety and self-esteem struggles. I know how anxiety and self-doubt can grow when you are trying to navigate spaces where you do not always feel fully seen or understood.

These early experiences have helped me connect with those who feel pressure to hold everything together, make their families proud, or hide how overwhelmed they feel. Over time, I became drawn to helping people understand what is happening inside them with compassion instead of shame.

I became a therapist because I know what it can feel like to carry anxiety, self-doubt, and responsibility while trying to appear okay on the outside. Being a therapist allows me to support others as they heal, feel more grounded, and reconnect with themselves.

Founding Healing Blue

I founded Healing Blue Therapy to create a space where people can gently transform old wounds into strength. This practice and our therapists combine deep trauma work with an understanding of the nervous system, adding cultural humility and emotionally specific language for people who are tired of masking their inner struggles and ready to heal.

My lived experiences, clinical training, and deep compassion have allowed me to connect with clients in a way that is warm, honest, and deeply human. I specialize in helping clients uncover and reshape painful childhood beliefs into empowering truths, so they can move through life with greater confidence, clarity, and self-compassion.

I truly believe that no matter what life has thrown at you, you are not broken. Many of the patterns that bring someone to therapy, including overthinking, people-pleasing, self-doubt, shutting down, or being hard on yourself, often developed as ways to cope, survive, or stay connected.

I Enjoy Connecting With Each Of My Clients

My areas of focus as a therapist often include trauma, social anxiety, overthinking, negative thoughts, self-doubt, people-pleasing, emotional overwhelm, and self-worth. I was drawn to these areas because I often see clients who are trying so hard to function while quietly feeling anxious, self-critical, or disconnected from themselves. I help clients understand the roots of these patterns, regulate their nervous system, and build more self-compassion and emotional confidence.

Healing happens when people feel safe enough to understand these patterns with compassion rather than shame. I believe growth is not about perfection. It is about learning to meet yourself with honesty, courage, and kindness.

As for a little more about me, I have two daughters, two Goldendoodles, and two Kittens, and I love them so much. I enjoy reading mystery and romance novels, and love watching scary movies, especially murder mysteries set in the 1930's. I love the life I have built for myself and take pride in supporting my family and living life to the fullest.
